Meet Dr. Jose Perez

Periodontist

Dr. Perez, a distinguished periodontist, hails from Puerto Rico, where he earned his DMD degree in 1990. After a decade of practicing general dentistry in his own office in Puerto Rico, Dr. Perez pursued advanced education at Boston University. There, he completed his Advanced Specialty Training in Periodontics and led clinical research in periodontal-crown-lengthening surgery and tooth restorability. His groundbreaking research resulted in a published thesis and a Master of Science degree, alongside two scientific articles in the Journal of Periodontology.

In 2005, Dr. Perez transitioned to private practice in South Florida, specializing in periodontics and comprehensive dentistry. Five years later, he joined the United States Navy Dental Corps, where he made significant contributions as the Department Head of Periodontics, Fleet Marine Force Warfare Officer Program Manager, Continuing Education Provider, and Command Infection Prevention and Control Officer.

Currently, Dr. Perez is working on an extensive publication focused on crown-lengthening surgery and tooth restorability. This upcoming work aims to provide clear guidelines for dentists on whether to retain or extract a tooth, emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach for exceptional aesthetic and functional restorative outcomes.

Dr. Perez brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to Keys Dental Specialists, greatly enhancing our professional expertise. His passion for dentistry and dedication to continuous learning are truly inspiring.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Perez enjoys general fitness, rollerblading, martial arts, swimming, and water sports. He is also an avid reader and practices yoga regularly.
